Another Broken Egg Brings Gilbert New Orleans Inspired Tastes

With a breakfast and brunch menu that offers something for anyone who wants a taste of the Big Easy without the long plane ride, Another Broken Egg Cafe opened on December 13 at 2484 South SanTan Village Parkway, Suite 108. , in Gilbert, just behind Mexican Grill Sandbar.

Seasoned restaurateurs Steve Christensen and Reid Richards are tasked with bringing the Destin chain in Florida to the desert. The New Orleans-inspired menu offers an infusion of the French countryside and the Deep South. Between its menu and its cocktails, Another Broken Egg aims to delight the taste buds of all palettes. From their Mardi Gras omelet to cinnamon French toast, “It’s all about the food, and it’s chef-inspired,” says Richards.

The full-service restaurant has a bar with infused Bloody Marys and mimosas to help you start your day, as well as fortified cold infusions, sodas, coffee, and hot chocolate.

According to the owners, the most popular menu item is the Benedict Hash Browns, which was once part of the seasonal menu. Other highlights include a lobster and brie omelet and the Benedict crab cake. The sleeper’s menu item is the Sonoma club sandwich, says Richards.

For those with a sweet tooth, there are a variety of breakfast staples, like strawberry French toast and lemon, blueberry, and goat cheese pancakes. There are gluten-free choices, like Bourbon Street pancakes, shrimp, and oatmeal, as well as seasonal menu options that change every three months. This part of the menu currently features eggnog and gingerbread waffles. There are also a lot of options for children.

Richards and Christensen’s passion for food and business began with a friendship that spanned over 16 years. Christensen is originally from Pennsylvania with a background in investment banking. Richards is originally from western New York and specializes in catering operations. Their goal was to offer more options to gourmets in the valley. They previously owned four Five Guys locations in the valley and shifted gears with Another Broken Egg.

“We are looking to offer something different and want dining out to be special for people,” Christensen said.

Staff bring a touch of southern hospitality to the front door, and the modern vibe is complemented by contemporary R&B music on one side.

Gilbert was Christensen and Reid’s first choice due to population and continued growth.

“It’s about finding the right place, and we’re excited about this place,” Christensen said.

With the large opening in the rearview mirror, Christensen and Richards plan to add more Another Broken Egg cafes over the next five years, with the next being in the Queen Creek area in 2022. Other potential locations include Ahwatukee, Surprise, Peoria and Mesa.
