Glassboro hosts Borough of Glass Festival art walk and night market, unveils new mural

The fourth annual Borough Of Glass ArtWalk and Night Market festival will celebrate Glassboro’s namesake industry on Saturday, July 17 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The day will feature art vendors and demonstrations, circus performances, glassblowers and guest performers William Butler.

The event celebrates the fourth anniversary of the Glassblower Statue in Town Square, standing 13 feet tall and weighing over 600 pounds.

The Creative Glassboro Arts Advisory Board will award its annual scholarship of $ 1,000 in recognition of the Masters of Performing or Visual Arts to Julianna Menna, Senior of Glassboro High School.

Ahead of the festival, the borough officially inaugurates its first public art mural at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 15 in Town Square. The mural, which depicts “iconic figures, places and events of the cultural heritage of Glassboro,” was created by artists Jonathan Laidacker and Eric Okdeh. It is located on the outer wall of the toilet pavilion on the south side of Town Square, visible from the High Street.
