Today IHG Hotels & Resorts and GI Capital Management sign the 86-room Regent Kyoto which will open in 2024.

Set in a garden that was originally landscaped 100 years ago by famous gardener Kumakichi Kato, Regent Kyoto’s idyllic location is currently home to the famous Tsuruya Restaurant, which is recognized as one of Kyoto’s top dining destinations, having held a number of Michelin stars over the years.

With over 100 years of history, Tsuruya is housed in sukiya-style wooden buildings, some of which were designed by famous architect Isoya Yoshida. It was originally developed as accommodation for the Japanese Imperial Family and guests of honor for their visits to Kyoto, and has hosted some of the world’s most important cultural and political figures, including members of the Japanese Imperial Family. , Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, George HW Bush and François Mitterrand, among other heads of state and dignitaries.

Regent Kyoto will be carefully designed to integrate Tsuruya and the gardens, and will offer everything guests expect from a top luxury hotel, including a lobby lounge, fitness center and spa, as well as several restaurants. in addition to Tsuruya.
