BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – The Tamarack Marketplace celebrates its 25th anniversary on Saturday, September 25, 2021.

The original grand opening took place on West Virginia Day, June 20, 1995. The market was considered the country’s first showcase to showcase fine art, regional cuisine, and local produce.

Tamarack Marketplace Marketing Director Jennifer Farley said that although the official opening date was in June, the event was pushed back to September due to COVID.

“We thought we could push the event back to September, but the decision was made before Delta,” said Farley.

Farley mentioned that many precautions will be taken, including the distribution of masks and hand sanitizer at each entrance and hand washing stations placed throughout the event space.

“We expect a few thousand people to attend,” said Farley.

The event includes food trucks, a beer festival, live music and artist demonstrations. There will also be activities for the kids, including a magician, balloon art and a bubble wagon. The event is even suitable for dogs!

Live music is presented on two outdoor stages. Tamarack Marketplace asks participants to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
