Building a vibrant city with grants for community and cultural groups – City of Mississauga

On February 16, 2022, Mississauga City Council approved a $4.4 million grant to support community and cultural groups in Mississauga.

“Empowering our local nonprofits is an important initiative for us. We support communities and organizations that have a meaningful impact on the public through arts, culture and community programs,” said Jodi Robillos, Commissioner, Community Services. “Each year, staff review all applications with the goal of expanding our cultural and recreational offerings to different communities across the city.”

Community Grants Program

The Community Grants Program assists nonprofit community groups in Mississauga by providing multi-year and annual operating and project grants to improve the quality of life for residents. The program aligns with the strategic priorities of the Recreation Division and the Parks, Forestry and Environment Division.

A total of 16 organizations will receive funding through the Community Grants Program in 2022.

Arts and Culture Grants Program

Grant funding from this program supports emerging and established arts, culture, and heritage organizations, not-for-profit, professional, and community organizations in Mississauga. The grant supports the development of exemplary arts and culture programs and services that enhance participation, knowledge, understanding and appreciation of arts, culture and heritage for Mississauga residents.

A total of 30 organizations will receive funding under the Arts and Culture Grants Program in 2022.

Grants for festivals and cultural celebrations

Cultural traditions and celebrations are important to residents and visitors to Mississauga. Grant funding in this area supports cultural programming and helps event attendees enjoy clean and safe venues.

A total of 20 festivals will receive funding for cultural festivals and celebrations in 2022.

This year, the grant supports cultural events, projects, or activities in the community with a focus on anti-racism, anti-hate efforts, and community building in Mississauga.

A total of nine groups will receive cultural project funding in 2022.
