If you’re looking to plan a vacation the whole family will love, then you should definitely consider visiting Planet Hollywood Resort in Cancun, Mexico.
The minute you get to Planet Hollywood Cancun you realize you are in for a fun vacation. Your initial entry into the property sets the tone as the staff cheers and applauds for your grand entrance. Once inside, you’ll find yourself surrounded by movie memorabilia and Hollywood-style decor.
When you combine it all with Planet Hollywood’s all-inclusive restaurants and bars, their theme nights, fabulous spa, and slew of family-friendly activities, it’s easy to see how the whole family would have fun at this resort. .
Located in Costa Mujeres, an area just north of Cancun’s bustling Hotel Zone, Planet Hollywood allows guests to explore all that Cancun has to offer while feeling away from the hustle and bustle. The long stretches of white sand beaches invite families to come and enjoy the turquoise waters of the Caribbean.
But the beaches are only part of this resort. Let’s dive into all the things Planet Hollywood Cancun has to offer and see why it’s the perfect getaway for the whole family!

2. All-inclusive property
Of course, expenses can add up quickly when you’re planning a vacation for the whole family. Fortunately, Planet Hollywood Cancun is an all-inclusive resort. This means that once you’ve booked your trip, you don’t need to whip out your wallet if you don’t want to!
All-inclusive at Planet Hollywood means you have 11 bars and restaurants to choose from, so there’s sure to be something for everyone in the family. Don’t forget to bring tip money! A few dollars per meal or stay at the bar should suffice.
In addition to covering your food and drinks, so does your entertainment. This includes nightly themed events, sports facilities, swimming pools, water parks, mini-golf and much more!
3. Plenty of Room Choices
With over 600 suites, Planet Hollywood Cancun is sure to have rooms to suit every member of your family.
Their junior suites include one king or two queen beds and a sofa bed as well as a private balcony or terrace. If you need a little more privacy, consider one of the family suites. These suites range from rooms with a sliding glass door to one and two bedroom suites offering even more privacy.
You can personalize your room even more by choosing an ocean or garden view. Some even come with semi-private pools and Jacuzzis.
If you really want the ultimate travel experience, go for Planet Hollywood’s STAR-class treatment. STAR Class lets you enjoy the best the resort has to offer, including upgraded bathrobes in your room, STAR Class private pool, upgraded room service menu, on-site personal agent, and more!
Planet Hollywood also offers the option of leaving the kids and grandkids on the family side of the resort while you stay on the adults-only side of the resort. I don’t think it gets any better than that!

Pro tip: This property is huge, but has concrete walkways everywhere. If you would like your room to be close to the majority of restaurants and the lobby, please make a special request when making your reservation.

4. Activities for the whole family
The family certainly won’t be bored while visiting Planet Hollywood. Whether you’re looking for the perfect place to lay on the beach or an afternoon full of competitive sports, this resort has you covered.
Little kids will love playing in the Splash Park, while kids of all ages will feel right at home floating around the resort’s lazy river. Of course, your family can also enjoy several pools, including an adults-only pool and a pool reserved for STAR class customers.

If you’re feeling adventurous, challenge your family to a FlowRider competition. See who can boogie board or surf the longest on the resort’s FlowRider. Please note that there is an additional cost for this activity.
If you don’t want to pay extra for the FlowRider, challenge your family to a game of mini-golf, tennis or basketball, all included in your stay. When the kids need to burn off some energy, but you just want to relax, send them to the resort’s trampoline park and playroom.
For those of you who like to exercise on vacation, Planet Hollywood Cancun has you covered. You can participate in indoor and outdoor classes, or just use the exercise machines and exercise.
Pro tip: I highly recommend joining a morning yoga class when visiting. Classes are held in a great location and really are the perfect way to start your day!

5. Meals and cocktails
The Planet Hollywood Cancun offers its guests 11 restaurants and 11 bars. With dishes ranging from burgers to sushi, there’s a restaurant here to suit every palate.
I’ll be the first to admit that food is often an afterthought at many all-inclusive resorts. I’ve been to many all-inclusive resorts that serve exactly the same food in their a la carte restaurants as they do in their buffets.
This is certainly not the case at Planet Hollywood Cancun. Their buffet, which is served in the ornately decorated SoCal Gourmet Emporium, is anything but a boring buffet. With plenty of hot and cold options, carving stations, and fresh cooking stations serving a variety of food choices, SoCal is the perfect place for a meal if your family includes several picky eaters.
Of course, the resort also offers plenty of a la carte dining options. Guys! Burger Joint serves delicious burgers and fries from celebrity chef Guy Fieri, while Gusto Italian Trattoria offers perfectly cooked Italian cuisine accompanied by an excellent bottle of wine.
On top of that, Planet Hollywood also has a sports bar, an Indian restaurant, a Mexican restaurant, a steakhouse, and my favorite, a Japanese restaurant. I especially like how you can dine and see a show when you choose to dine at the hibachi table in the Japanese restaurant!
The food isn’t the only delicious thing at Planet Hollywood Cancun, they also pride themselves on their handcrafted cocktails. Serving great drinks at the property’s 11 bars means you can grab a drink anytime. One of my favorite bars is the Blue Lagoon Bar, which is inside a cave on the lazy river.
Pro tip: If you love craft cocktails, consider upgrading to STAR class. STAR Class gives you access to premium alcoholic beverages and the Green Room Lounge, a beautiful relaxation area exclusively for STAR Class customers.
6. Kids club
Children ages 4-12 can participate in all of the fun activities offered at Planet Hollywood’s Kids Club. Even the kids’ club at this resort is hotel-themed. Children can enjoy many activities that stimulate their imagination.
Whether they’re singing a song, designing a costume, directing a show, or writing a screenplay, they’re immersing themselves in the land of Hollywood stardom. There are even performing classes that walk them through the process of putting on a show.

7. Planet Hollywood Spa
While the kids are having fun at the kids club, adults can stop by and enjoy a fabulous spa treatment during their stay at Planet Hollywood Cancun. You can choose from a wide variety of treatments ranging from hydrotherapy to full body treatments.
I loved the grotto feel of the spa. The environment is dark and relaxing with touches of soft amber light illuminating walls and floors in just the right places. Spending a few hours here will really make you feel like you’re on vacation!
Pro tip: Even if you don’t want a full body treatment, at least try the hydrotherapy treatment. After visiting a series of saunas, you enjoy several pools of water with jets that help wash away your aches and pains. At the end of the treatment, you are wrapped in warm towels and given a scalp massage. It’s incredible!
8. Visits And Excursions
When the family is ready to explore the Cancun area, you can make all the arrangements right from your resort. Representatives are available to answer all your questions and arrange the perfect tour or excursion for your family.
Some of my favorite excursions in the area include a catamaran trip to Isla Mujeres, exploring the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza or Tulum, snorkeling in the beautiful Caribbean Sea, having fun at XCare, or shopping. in Cancun or Playa del Carmen.
