GBA promises to support the 65th anniversary of independence

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has promised to deliver a rich tourism experience to customers, ahead of the 65th anniversary celebration of Independence Day.

The two-week celebration, scheduled for Cape Coast, Central Region, is themed: “Working together; Better bounce back. »

It would be the third time he would be hosted outside Accra, after Tamale, Northern Region, and Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

GTA Regional Manager, Mr Kwame Gyasi, speaking to reporters after meeting stakeholders in Cape Coast, said on Tuesday that preparations were well advanced and foreign and local tourists would have “a unique experience while exploring the rich culture of the place”.

MrGyasi urged tourism industry players to adopt and position themselves to take advantage of the event to attract more visitors.

“For us at GTA, we are responsible for promoting and developing tourism, so we wanted to go the extra mile. I believe that all institutions are doing their part, but the ultimate responsibility rests with us. It’s just to stimulate us,” he said.

The Central Regional Vice President of the Ghana Hoteliers Association, Mr. Victor Mintah, expressed the willingness of members to welcome any Presidential delegation or Head of State who may be present.

“The Hungarian president and his delegation were welcomed about four weeks ago in the region. We are ready to welcome any Presidential or Head of State delegation who will be here for the celebration and give them a rich experience of what the central region has to offer in terms of culture, attractions, hospitality and cuisine and let them know who we are and where we come from,” he said.

Mr. Emmanuel Lawer, Senior Standards and Quality Assurance Manager, GTA, called on hotel owners to train their staff “to be on top of business” while ensuring a clean environment.

“Without a clean environment, you have no business in the hospitality industry. As much as possible, let’s keep each department clean,” he stressed.

This year’s Independence Day celebration would be graced by Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley.

The celebration would be preceded by a 10-day activity starting February 25, 2022

On Saturday, February 26, 2022, there would be the Ghana Health and Fitness Walk which would be attended by the Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. It is scheduled to start at 6:00 a.m. and would be replicated in all other regions of the country.

Sunday, February 27, 2022 has been declared a day of Christian prayer and thanksgiving,” the day when Christians across the country would pray for Ghana. There would be a “What Do You Know” contest, at GBC studios, at 10:00 a.m.

Monday, February 28, 2022 would mark the “February 28 shooting at Christiansborg Crossroad, the Freedom Monument and a wreath laying exercise.

Tuesday, March 1, 2022 would be National Flag Raising Day.
