At the Sushirosa in Santa Rosa, a robot serves food

Robot replaces Guy Fieri. OK, sort of. But hey, robot!
At the old Tex Wasabi’s in downtown Santa Rosa, the Mayor of Flavortown, Guy Fieri, left the building and he was replaced by a sushibot.
It’s the extra pair of hands, uh, the paid waiter, helping out at the new Sushi Rosa restaurant on Fourth Street. Excuse us for the childish joy of skillfully having us roll a plate of nigiri from the sushi bar by a friendly roving robot who guides himself to our table. Plus, in times of staff hardship, a robot isn’t a bad fit for an extra hand, er, a paying server, to help out.
The sushi is solid, if not Hana-Japanese level. What we like is the menu with page after page of rolls and nigiri, including a vegetarian ânigiriâ plate as well as more traditional dishes like dried squid with vegetables (ika sansai), Japanese pickles ( tsukemono), a whole mackerel with fried bone and marinated vegetable maki. Entrees like teriyaki chicken, pork in katsu sauce, and udon are also available, along with a small sake menu.
In addition, there is the robot. Cute! (Kawaii!) Sushi Rosa is open from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. 515 Fourth Street, Santa Rosa, sushirosa.com
