Japanese restaurant in Reading wins prestigious Food England 2022 award
A Reading venue has been hailed as the “Best Oriental Establishment” in the South. Japanese cuisine restaurant Oishi, tucked away on Oxford Road, offers delicious sushi, ramen and bento.
The Japanese restaurant battled for The Food Awards England title against six other venues, including three from Berkshire. Oishi was named the category winner at a distinguished black-tie event in Manchester held earlier this week on Monday June 6.
A Food Awards England spokesperson said: “These awards are to recognize those who work hard in the city’s food industry and help make England a foodie place to visit. It is true that England combines tastes and flavors from around the world and visitors can find different restaurants, gastro pubs and bistros to suit their needs.

“These people enhance the country’s reputation nationally and internationally, and we want to make sure that the hard work of England’s food professionals does not go unnoticed. It was a pleasure to be part of this celebration and we want to congratulate all the finalists and winners for their achievements!”
The popular restaurant is a favorite of people living nearby and is reflected in its 4.5 star rating on TripAdvisor. Oishi can definitely thrill your taste buds and give you that much-needed dose of Japanese cuisine.
From freshly made sushi to crispy fried gyozas, katsu curry and stir-fried noodles, there’s something for everyone. Customers can even enjoy their food from the comfort of their own home as they deliver right to your doorstep six days a week.

- Pan Asia Kitchen (London)
- Baan Thitiya (Hertford)
- Oishi (reading)
- Soyami (Newbury)
- Lemongrass (Brentwood)
