While we were all focused on the company, Chris Lucas and his team worked hard on two more restaurants, Yakimono and Lillian Terrace, which will debut at 80 Collins Street on November 5th. And reservations for all three locations open today. .

Yakimono, led by Chef Daniel Wilson, who co-founded Huxtable and Huxtaburger, brings the best of Japanese street food and fire cooking to a forward-thinking space bathed in colorful lights. The Lucas team names Tokyo’s bustling Shinjuku district and izakayas as influences, as well as the film Blade Runner 2049.

The grill that overlooks the large open kitchen will prepare kebabs of all kinds, including crispy chili octopus, while the rest of the menu includes noodles, rice dishes, and dishes to share, like a whole chicken glazed with miso. . Wilson will also smoke eel, chicken fat, and more to add layers of flavor to dishes.

Lillian Terrace, though located on the same level of the building as Society, sits somewhere between that and Yakimono in terms of style, offering a day-to-night menu of European-inspired classics in a warm, earthy-toned room for 100. people. Diners can expect crumbled King George whiting with a chunk of cauliflower and American sauce or a slow roasted and smoked Margra lamb shoulder with Dijon mustard.

On November 5, the fine-diner Society will also reopen after its very brief first performance in early August, but with a new chef in the kitchen following the departure of former chef Sepia Martin Benn, announced in September.

Luke Headon has become Executive Chef, having been trained by Benn throughout the restaurant’s opening, and will continue to offer the same menu. Headon previously worked for The Fat Duck in the UK and Ezard at Levantine Hill in Victoria. Meanwhile, Thomas Woods remains the leader of Lillian Terrace. His CV includes Woodland House, a fine restaurant in Prahran.
